Widespread Criticism Targets World Cup Ticket Prices

Khaberni - England fans criticized the surprising increase in football World Cup ticket prices ahead of next summer's tournament, which could increase further with rising demand.

Tickets were first made available on Wednesday to those selected in a draw held last month, where The Athletic newspaper revealed that the $16 tickets, described by FIFA as the cheapest, were extremely rare.
FIFA has not confirmed the initial prices for tickets after the cheapest, for the group stages, and the most expensive ticket for the final, but the English Fans Association estimates that a fan attending all England's matches if they make it to the final, even if purchasing the cheapest category tickets, will spend at least $3180.

FIFA applies what it describes as variable pricing for the tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, which means that prices may rise or fall depending on demand.

Thomas Concannon from the English Fans Association said: "These prices are fantastical.. $2000 for the cheapest final ticket is unacceptable".

He added, according to the British News Agency (PA Media): "If fans manage to get a fourth category ticket from the first match to the final, it could cost them at least $3180, which is more than double the cost of the Qatar 2022 World Cup".

He continued: "In addition to traveling to the Americas, and staying there, this will be the most expensive World Cup we have ever seen".

He also said: "We urge the English Football Association to work with other countries around the world to put pressure on FIFA to ensure that fans are financially able to attend the World Cup".
