Khaberni - Hebrew media reported early this Saturday that actual fighting in Gaza stopped tonight by orders of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The website "Ynet" stated that by Netanyahu's command, the fighting in the Gaza Strip ceased overnight, with no offensive operations against Hamas, similar to the ceasefires in November 2023 and January of this year, where ground forces are engaged in self-defense only until further orders.
According to the site, even before statements from Hamas and US President Donald Trump, the Israeli military practically halted its maneuvers in Gaza in recent days and froze the attack on the Beach refugee camp, which was supposed to begin at the start of the week. The Israeli Defense Forces have not yet reached Hamas strongholds and targets in Gaza City as part of the operation "Gideon Chariots 2," as everything is proceeding slowly and cautiously, fully coordinated between the political and military levels over the past month.
Meanwhile, an Israeli military spokesman reported that Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, held a special meeting last night to assess the situation in light of developments.
The spokesperson said, "Based on directives from the political leadership, the Chief of Staff issued instructions to enhance readiness to implement the first phase of Trump's plan for releasing the hostages. It was emphasized that the security of our forces is a top priority, and all capabilities of the Israeli Defense Forces will be dedicated to the Southern Command to protect our forces." It was also noted that "the Chief of Staff pointed out that due to the sensitivity of the operations, all forces must exercise the utmost vigilance and caution. The necessity of a rapid response to eliminate any threat was also emphasized."
Netanyahu's office announced that Tel Aviv, in light of Hamas's response, is preparing to implement the first phase of Trump's plan for the immediate release of all prisoners.
The office added: "We will continue to cooperate fully with the President and his team to end the war according to the principles set by Israel and which are in line with President Trump's vision."
Moreover, Hamas announced on Friday evening that it had delivered its response to President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip to mediators.
Hamas also renewed its agreement to hand over administration of the Gaza Strip to an independent Palestinian authority (technocrats) based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.
For his part, US President Donald Trump announced in response to Hamas's decision to accept his proposal to end the war in Gaza, that the movement was ready for permanent peace. He called on Israel to stop bombing Gaza immediately.
Hamas's response to the American President's proposal to end the war in Gaza was welcomed and supported broadly by a number of international leaders and officials and influential Arab countries involved in the issue.
