Blinken Trumps Gaza Plan Developed During Bidens Tenure

Khaberni - Former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday that President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza had been developed during his predecessor Joe Biden's term.

Blinken announced his support for the plan, saying it "aligns with the agreement he had sought to reach during the Biden administration."

Speaking on a podcast with former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara, Blinken added, "I think there is some reason for hope, and I certainly hope the plan will be accepted and fully implemented."

Blinken explained that Trump's proposal was essentially "a plan developed over months, which we left in the drawer for the next administration. I am very pleased that they adopted it."

However, Blinken acknowledged that there were gaps in the proposed plan, among them allowing Israel to determine the timing of its full withdrawal from Gaza.

He said, "There are some gaps that Israelis could exploit if they wanted."

Trump recently revealed his plan to end the war in Gaza, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to.

The plan stipulates an immediate cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip following the approval of both parties, followed by the release of all hostages held by Hamas, and Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

The plan consists of 20 points, including the disarmament of Hamas and the departure of its fighters from the sector to other countries, and the governance of Gaza by a Palestinian committee of technocrats and international experts, supervised by a council chaired by Trump himself, and with members including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Under the plan, Israel will gradually withdraw from the sector, yet retain a "security belt."

On Tuesday, Trump threatened Hamas with a bleak fate, giving them 3 or 4 days to respond to his plan.
