Khaberni - Bashir Ahmed Siddiq, the Sheikh of Readers at the Prophet's Mosque, and one of the flags of readings in the modern era, who passed away at dawn on Thursday, at the age of approximately 90 years, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after a career filled with giving that spanned nearly 6 decades in the service of the Book of Allah and teaching the ten readings.
Sheikh Bashir, who was born in India, moved in his youth to Medina, where he devoted his life to teaching the Holy Qur'an in the Noble Prophet’s Mosque. He mentored a group of prominent readers, most notably Sheikh Muhammad Ayub and Sheikh Ali Jaber, both of whom went on to become imams in the Prophet's and Holy Mosques respectively.
Sheikh Bashir was known for his extreme precision in teaching narrations and his intense care in verifying the chains of narration, until he became a trusted reference in the science of readings. His death was announced at dawn today, and the funeral prayers were performed after the Fajr prayer in the Noble Prophet’s Mosque, where a large gathering of scholars, students of knowledge, and admirers escorted him, in a solemn scene reflecting his scholarly and spiritual stature.
