Khaberni - The Miss Asia and Pacific 2025 pageant in Cebu City, Philippines, witnessed a sudden disruption when a 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit the event location.
The contestants were on the display stage, moving calmly and confidently, before the earthquake struck the event, causing a wave of panic among them, prompting them to scatter randomly in an attempt to escape the horrific incident.
At that moment, 43 contestants from different countries, including Anita Rose Gomez from the Philippines and the current queen Janels Leba from the United States, were quickly directed to safe areas without any injuries, according to statements from the event organizers.
Organizers praised the reaction of the hotel team, describing it as "quick and professional" in implementing safety procedures, while all planned activities for October 1 were canceled pending assessment of the situation and ensuring everyone's safety.
The beauty pageant community globally interacted with the event, expressing their support and prayers for the people of Cebu, and the Miss Universe Philippines and Miss Philippines organizations issued statements containing messages of solidarity and encouragement for the contestants.
