Khaberni - Within the framework of legislation related to enhancing the national integrity system and modernizing the public sector, the Cabinet, in its session held today, Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, approved an amended bill for the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law for the year 2025, as a prelude to sending it to the House of Representatives to proceed with the issuing procedures according to constitutional norms.

The proposed amendments to the bill are intended to aid relevant entities in fostering a culture and system of integrity and enhancing compliance with national integrity standards, and establishing the principle of prevention and risk evaluation; considering these as accredited assessment tools in international assessments to achieve integrity standards according to best global practices.

The amended bill aligns with the public sector modernization plan, which includes key pillars related to improving and developing the existing institutional culture based on integrity and rejecting corruption.

The bill enables the authority to cover the expenses of witnesses and expert fees, and enhances the ability to recover funds arising from corruption crimes in alignment with the United Nations Convention against Corruption and harmonizing some provisions with the Judiciary Independence Law, in addition to treating members of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Council like appellate judges in their financial rights based on the amendments made to the Judiciary Independence Law.
