A Federal Judge Prohibits Trump Administration from Targeting War Opponents on Gaza

Khaberni - A U.S. federal judge stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump's administration's efforts to deport foreigners for protesting the war in Gaza were unconstitutional.

U.S. District Court Judge William Young, who recognized many university associations, stated that the policy they described as ideological deportation violates the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The ruling came after a trial.
Young, who was nominated by former Republican President Ronald Reagan, said: "This case, possibly the most important ever within the jurisdiction of this district court, directly addresses the issue of whether those who are here legally in the United States actually enjoy the same freedom of speech rights as the rest of us. And the court answers this question unequivocally in the constitution: yes, they indeed have the same rights."
The ruling came after a trial during which lawyers from the university associations presented witnesses who confirmed that the Trump administration launched a coordinated effort to target students and researchers who criticized Israel, or showed sympathy for Palestinians.
Ramiya Krishnan, the lead attorney at the "Knight Institute for the First Amendment," told the court: "Not since the days of former Republican Congressman Joseph McCarthy have immigrants been subjected to such severe suppression for expressing their political views legally, the policy creates a cloud of fear over academic communities, and it is at war with the First Amendment."
