Khaberni - The Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammad bin Salman, directed that the former Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Sheikh's name be given to a main street in Riyadh.

The Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammad bin Salman, directed the naming of the street after Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh, the former Grand Mufti of the Kingdom and former head of the Council of Senior Scholars, in one of the main streets in the capital, Riyadh.

This guidance comes in recognition of Sheikh Abdulaziz's scholarly status and his prominent role in serving the nation, Islam, and Muslims, as he dedicated his life to seeking and teaching religious knowledge, guiding, and advising people.

Who is Abdulaziz Al Sheikh?
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammad Al Sheikh was born in Riyadh in the year 1362 AH (1941 AD), and comes from the well-known Al Sheikh family, known for their scholarship and jurisprudence, which traces its lineage back to Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab.

He was raised in a scholarly religious environment, memorized the Holy Quran at a young age, and was interested in seeking religious knowledge from childhood. He joined the Riyadh Religious Institute, then continued his education at the College of Sharia at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, graduating in 1383 AH.

After graduating, he worked as a lecturer at Imam University, and progressed in scholarly and preaching positions until he was appointed the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia in 1419 AH, succeeding Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Sheikh was known for his asceticism and humility, in addition to his significant efforts in spreading religious knowledge and preaching, and authoring research and fatwas that served Muslims within and outside the kingdom.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Sheikh passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of 82, and was prayed over at the Imam Turki Mosque in Riyadh.
