Khaberni - The United States has requested European countries provide a detailed file about the organizational structures, designations, and legal fronts of the Muslim Brotherhood within them, according to a European diplomatic source familiar with the matter.
The source told Eagle Intelligence Reports: "The purpose of the American request is to support an internal review in Washington on the available options to classify the group on the American terrorism lists."
According to information, European countries expressed readiness to cooperate with the American request and provide Washington with the necessary data about the structures and networks of the Muslim Brotherhood existing on their territories.
The source confirmed that the American move came under continuous political pressure from Israel, which seeks to convince its Western allies to adopt a stricter approach towards the group, within the context of its confrontation against Hamas, which is considered a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Although the United States and many European countries classify Hamas as a terrorist organization, Israel seeks to isolate the Muslim Brotherhood, which it considers the parent organization of the movement, and to provide support and backing to Hamas, especially in terms of enhancing its narrative in the regional and international public opinion.
According to the source, the American request includes a range of data such as: the organizational frameworks and structures, cultural centers, charity associations, and fronts associated with the Brotherhood in the member states of the European Union, designations and institutional relationships between entities connected to the group, and clarifying the legal status of each entity within the host country, and the scope of its activity.
This data feeds two potential legal paths in the United States, the first: inclusion in the “Foreign Terrorist Organizations” list of the State Department, and the second: classification of sanctions under Executive Order 13224 used by the State and Treasury Departments to target entities or individuals as "global terrorists."
This request comes after members of the American Congress reintroduced a bill on July 16, 2025, aiming to adopt a new approach to placing the “Muslim Brotherhood” on terrorism lists, bringing the file back to the forefront of discussion in Washington.
The American administration had previously considered in 2019 the option of listing the group on the Foreign Terrorist Organizations list, but the decision was not made at that time.
Regarding the American administration, Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed in a press interview that President Donald Trump's administration is conducting a review regarding classifying the “Muslim Brotherhood” as a terrorist organization, and there is an "internal process" that involves “conducting a review, documenting it, and justifying it.”
If the Muslim Brotherhood is classified in the United States as a terrorist organization, then this would lead to the freezing of the group's assets in the United States, banning any financial or service transactions with it by American citizens, and this reflecting on all European countries, which will encircle many of the group’s leaders and investments around the world.
