Khaberni - Social media sites have widely circulated the name of the Egyptian artist Engy Abdullah during the past few hours, after she disclosed in a post on her Facebook account about her separation from her husband, due to her having a brainstem tumor.

Engy explained that her husband did not stand by her during her first treatment journey in 2019, which she went through with her family, before he married another woman. She shared her shock when she accidentally saw pictures of his wedding online.

Who is Engy Abdullah?

Engy Abdullah was born on July 23, 1977, in Cairo Governorate. She has been passionate about art since childhood, which led her to acquire acting and performance skills. She then studied media, which honed her abilities in communication and presentation, to begin her career as a model in commercial advertisements.

She won the title of Miss Egypt in 1999 and represented Egypt in the Miss Universe pageant in the same year, ranking 26th out of 86 countries.

Engy Abdullah entered the film industry through the movie "Badr" in 2001 alongside Youssef Mansour and Lotfi Labib, then stopped acting before later returning to TV series roles such as "A Woman Above the Ordinary," "Hour of Essence," and "The Disappearance of Said Mehran."

She also presented works like "Midnight Attack," "Fire and Clay," and "Dream School," leading up to her latest appearance in the series "Chess."

Initially, Engy married someone outside the artistic community and the marriage ended quickly. Later in 2015, she married Albert Bosoter, the former acting ambassador of Turkey, and moved to Japan with her husband.

Engy Abdullah's illness

Engy Abdullah recently revealed that she has a tumor in the brainstem, confirming that it is not cancerous but is extremely dangerous because of its location, leading to loss of sensation on her right side and difficulties in swallowing and continuous pain.

She mentioned that she is currently following palliative treatments aimed at improving the quality of her life, not clinging to life itself, noting that her sister also suffers from tumors in the lungs and brain.
