Khaberni - The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil, and Administrative Affairs ruled to compel a young man to pay 20,000 dirhams to a man after photographing him without his consent, in an incident the court considered an assault on his privacy and dignity.

In the details of the case, the plaintiff filed a complaint against the defendant after he secretly photographed him, which led to the latter being referred to a criminal trial. The trial found him guilty, fined him 10,000 dirhams, and the appellate court upheld the judgment making it final.

The civil court explained in its rationale that the act committed by the defendant caused psychological and moral damage to the plaintiff, affecting his reputation and dignity among people, which necessitates compensation.

The court ruled to compel the defendant to pay a total compensation of 20,000 dirhams, in addition to the fees, expenses, and attorney's fees.
