Khaberni - Kuwait's Foreign Minister, Jarrah Jabir Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah considers the Iranian attack on the Gulf states as a systematic pattern and that the Arab League has failed to keep up with current challenges.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, in his speech while heading the Kuwaiti delegation at the 165th regular session of the Arab League Council, reiterated "Kuwait's strongest condemnation and denunciation of the brutal Iranian aggression on the country and the region," emphasizing that what Iran is currently doing is not just a transient escalation, but a systematic pattern to destabilize the region.
Al-Jaber pointed out that the Iranian behavior cannot be justified by any misleading rhetoric... it necessitates a deterring international response, noting that "the aggression caused martyrs to rise, injured to fall, civilians to be endangered, and destruction of vital facilities."
In a related context, the minister expressed his hope that the efforts of the Iraqi government would be successful, affirming: "We hope that the Iraqi government succeeds in curbing Iran-aligned factions and militias and stopping their attacks", appreciating Baghdad's pledged measures to cease hostilities.
Regarding the limitations of joint Arab action, Al-Jaber stressed that "the Gulf states have spared no effort in providing support and experiences have proven the limited effectiveness of joint Arab action," indicating that the Arab League has proven a clear inability to keep up with the accelerating challenges and to play an effective role in safeguarding Arab security.
He affirmed that the participation of the affected countries is a fundamental condition in any future negotiations with Iran, based on the necessity of involving the countries that suffer directly from "Iranian aggressive behavior".
He renewed the affirmation of Kuwait's full right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, stressing that Iranian practices represent a blatant violation of international law that requires a firm international stance and deterrent measures to ensure the protection of international peace and security.
