Khaberni - The wedding of global star Selena Gomez to music producer Benny Blanco caused a family controversy, after press reports revealed that the star's mother, Mandy Teefey, felt greatly disappointed for not being chosen to accompany her daughter down the aisle on the wedding day.
The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reported that Teefey and her husband Brian were "shattered" emotionally after Gomez's sudden decision to assign this task to her grandfather David Cornett, who could not hold back his tears, along with his wife, Debbie, when they were informed of the news.
According to sources, Selena had made this decision from the beginning of the wedding planning, which made it more shocking for her mother.
The wedding, which took place in Santa Barbara, California, inside a private mansion surrounded by an atmosphere of secrecy, saw a large turnout of Hollywood stars, led by Taylor Swift, along with Gomez's friends and colleagues from her famous series Only Murders in the Building, such as Martin Short, Paul Rudd, and Steve Martin.
The event was preceded by a lavish dinner in one of the suburbs of California, attended by close associates.
Sources close explained that the guests experienced a surprise-filled atmosphere, as they were transported to the celebration site without knowing their destination in advance, while Swift chose to stay in a private home away from the hotel that hosted the other invitees for security reasons.
She arrived in California surrounded by a group of black umbrellas in an attempt to evade the photographers' lenses.
It is noted that Mandy Teefey, who gave birth to Selena when she was sixteen, played a pivotal role in supporting her daughter's artistic career from the beginning, and also introduced her to Blanco long ago.
Despite what was described as "painful exclusion," previous statements by the duo confirmed that Teefey was an essential part of their love story, which culminated in marriage.
Selena, who is 33 years old, announced her engagement to Blanco, 37 years old, last December (December) via an emotional post on "Instagram," where she showcased her diamond ring and commented: "Now forever begins."
