Khaberni - A number of people were injured in a shooting at "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" in Michigan, USA, before a large fire broke out.

The American police reported that several people were injured at "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints", belonging to the Mormon sect, in the suburb of Grand Blanc, Michigan.

The local authorities in Grand Blanc announced the death of the shooter, but a fire broke out in the church and residents are advised to stay away from the area, according to the American news network "CNN".

Grand Blanc is a suburb of Flint, Michigan, and is located about an hour's drive north of Detroit.

"CNN" displayed video clips taken by a resident of the area, Leah Graham, which showed thick smoke plumes rising from the church.

Graham told "CNN" that she did not witness the attack on the church, but she noticed that the surrounding roads were closed as she passed by.

In a post on the "X" platform, Attorney General Pam Bondi said, "I am receiving briefings on what appears to be a terrible shooting and fire incident at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan."

"ABC" network quoted Bondi saying that agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are responding to the incident and are on their way to the scene right now.

Bondi confirmed that "this violence in a place of worship is heartbreaking and despicable. I urge you to join me in praying for the victims of this terrible tragedy."

Meanwhile, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, in a statement on the "X" site, said her "heart breaks for the Grand Blanc community."

She added, "Violence anywhere, especially in places of worship, is unacceptable. I am grateful for the first responders who acted quickly.. We will continue to monitor this situation and keep The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc closed."
