Amid the active traffic that Tafila Governorate experiences, and specifically on its only vital street stretching from Wadi Zaid to Al-Hamma area, we face an escalating issue that now threatens the safety of the citizens and warns of severe traffic congestions. This street is the main artery connecting the city with its surroundings, and any fault in it is capable of paralyzing movement and disrupting people's interests..
Al-Hamma turn, a dangerous hotspot requiring immediate intervention
Locally known as "Al-Hamma curve", it is a sharp and winding turn experiencing active movement and is one of the most dangerous spots on the road..
In less than a month, four successive accidents occurred at this turn, due to oils spilled on the main road from one of the randomly scattered mechanic shops on both sides of the street, which led to vehicles losing control when using brakes, nearly leading to a real disaster..
The presence of these craft shops (mechanics, car electricity, tire services, etc.) within rented spaces on this vital street constitutes a blatant regulatory violation, directly jeopardizing public safety, impeding traffic flow, and increasing the likelihood of accidents..
We earnestly call upon the chair and members of the Greater Tafila Municipality Committee, and the Governorate Council,: to take the following actions as much as possible
Mandating all craft shop owners to relocate to the designated craft area, maintaining public order and road safety..
Constructing a speed bump by the Public Works Directorate before the Khreisat warehouses as an urgent solution to slow down speed, while permanent solutions are being implemented..
Activating field supervision on these shops, and holding accountable anyone causing oil spills or debris on the main roads..
Implementing a comprehensive traffic plan guaranteed to regulate movement on this sole street, and reduce the chances of traffic jams in case of emergencies..
Your responsibility today is not only regulatory, but also humanitarian and ethical, as you are the guardians of people's lives, the caretakers of road safety, and guarantors of a safe and organized urban environment..
We do not write this plea from a theoretical standpoint, but from a painful reality, and from a scene that repeats itself, so as not to grieve over another real accident; instead, to avoid any possible incidents, may God forbid, that might claim innocent lives.
With all respect and appreciation for everyone striving to serve this dear governorate, and full confidence that our voice will be heard, that decisions will be made, and that Tafila will remain safe with its people and leaders..
