Khaberni - The Alexandria Misdemeanor Appeals Court upheld the imprisonment of Marwa Yousri for two years and fined her 100,000 Egyptian pounds after she was convicted of insulting and slandering actress Wafaa Amer on "TikTok".

The Alexandria Economic Misdemeanor Appeals Court, today Sunday, upheld the judgment issued against the TikToker Marwa Yousri, famously known as "Mubarak's Daughter", to be imprisoned for two years and fined 100,000 pounds, over allegations of insulting and slandering actress Wafaa Amer during a live broadcast on "TikTok".

The court of first instance had issued a similar judgment on September 13 last year, leading Marwa Yousri’s defense team to file an appeal hoping to reduce the sentence. However, the court rejected the appeal and upheld the previous decision.

The details of the case go back to video clips broadcasted by the accused, which included phrases Wafaa Amer considered offensive to her person, prompting her to file a legal lawsuit. During the court sessions, the actress's lawyer requested a publication ban in the case, but the court denied the request.

One of the sessions witnessed a notable scene when Marwa Yousri fainted inside the courtroom on August 30, forcing the judge to temporarily suspend the session until she regained consciousness.
