Khaberni -Khaberni - In a tragic incident at a high school in Istanbul, a student was stabbed by her classmate due to bullying, and fortunately for the victim, her injuries were not serious.
The incident began when a 15-year-old student summoned her schoolmate, who is one year older, to the school restrooms to reprimand her for her continuous bullying.
A kitchen knife
During the meeting, the younger student attacked her classmate with a large kitchen knife she had brought from the school's food and tea preparation room, stabbing her in the back before fleeing the school.
After the attacker was arrested and the victim was transferred to the hospital, investigations revealed that the incident was related to the bullying, as the conversation between the two students in the restroom ended in such manner.
The attacking student defended herself during the investigation, stating she had been a long-time victim of bullying, and that the victim had consistently mocked her; she denied all when confronted in the restroom.
Fortunately for the victim, her injuries were not serious, despite the size of the knife with which she was stabbed. Meanwhile, the attacking student faces a trial for attempted murder.
However, preliminary investigations revealed that she had received treatment at a mental and neurological hospital on various dates, which might mitigate the penalty she faces.
