Khaberni -Khaleej Times - Italian Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his excitement to begin a "new chapter" as the technical director for Brazil's national football team, as he prepares for his final match with Real Madrid against Real Sociedad later today, Saturday.
The British news agency "PA Media" reported that Ancelotti will take over the coaching of the team, which has won five World Cup titles, on May 26, after a last disappointing season in Spain where Real Madrid failed to clinch the league title, the Champions League, or the Copa del Rey.
The period Ancelotti spent coaching Real Madrid, which lasted four years, is the longest he has spent coaching a team since he coached Italy's Milan for 8 years from 2001 to 2009.
Ancelotti, 65, said before the last game of the Real Madrid season: "It's a great feeling. It's a really exciting opportunity, I was given the chance to avoid betraying Real Madrid by moving to another club, and lead the Brazilian team, which has a great history in football, and is a five-time world champion."
He added: "It's a huge challenge and I am looking forward to the opportunity to be ready for the World Cup with Brazil. It's a very beautiful period for me. Now I start a new chapter with the same desire and enthusiasm when I arrived here."
He confirmed: "My time with Real has come to an end. It was a long time together and it ended well. There is a comprehensive agreement with the club. I had no dispute with the president, and that will not change on my last day."
It seems that Xabi Alonso, who led Bayer Leverkusen to win the German league last season, will succeed Ancelotti in coaching Real Madrid.
