Khaberni - Four informed sources said that US President Donald Trump might sign executive orders on Friday aimed at boosting the nuclear energy sector by facilitating regulatory procedures related to new reactor approvals and supporting fuel supply chains.

In light of the first increase in electricity demand in two decades due to the expansion of artificial intelligence activities, Trump declared an energy emergency on his first day in office.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright says that the race to develop sources for electricity and the data centers necessary for artificial intelligence is "Manhattan Project 2", referring to the massive program the United States undertook during World War II to develop atomic bombs.

An executive summary draft stated that Trump would activate the Defense Production Act, a Cold War-era law, to declare a national emergency based on the United States' reliance on Russia and China for enriched uranium, nuclear fuel processing, and inputs for advanced reactors.

The summary also directs agencies to authorize new nuclear facilities, identify their locations, and simplify the procedures necessary for their construction.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The text and wording of the executive order drafts may be subject to frequent changes.

The United States was the first developer of nuclear power and has the largest nuclear capacity in the world, although China is currently experiencing the fastest growth in this energy source.
