Tell me - The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) announced a set of exemptions and modifications to player status and transfer regulations, in line with the organization of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to be held from June 14 to July 13.
As sports analyst and journalist Sultan Al Ali pointed out on his "X" account, the key exemptions are as follows:
Exceptional registration period:
An exceptional registration period will be opened from June 1 to June 10 for all clubs affiliated with the local federation of the participating club.
No maximum limit for signings:
There will be no maximum number of signings that clubs can make during the specified exceptional period.
Extended rosters:
The preliminary roster for the tournament will include up to 50 players, while the final roster will be limited to a maximum of 35 players and no less than 26 players. The final list must be submitted by June 10.
Flexibility in player replacement:
Players whose contracts expire during the tournament can be replaced, and two new players can be added during the tournament, provided that the total replacements and additions do not exceed six players.
Rule against representing two clubs:
A player cannot represent two clubs in the same tournament.
Compliance with contract termination:
A player can participate with his club until the last day of his contract, and if he continues to play after this date, the club will face disciplinary and administrative penalties.
Limits on loans:
There is no exemption in the specified ceiling for loans, and they will be counted within the total number (lending 6 players and borrowing 6 players during the season).
Prohibition for international players to join their national teams:
The club has the right to not allow its international players to join their national teams during the tournament period.
Modification of the rule of registration with three clubs:
Regarding the clause that allows a player to register with up to three clubs maximum during a single season, and to play in official matches with only two of these clubs, the matches of the FIFA Club World Cup will not count within these periods. Therefore, if a player plays in the tournament with club "A", he can transfer twice and play with club "B" and "C" without issues.
