Khaberni - The leader of the Otzma Yehudit party, Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, reiterated his request to hold the military portfolio in the upcoming government, and declared his intention to effect a radical change in security policy.
In an interview with Reshet Bet newspaper this Tuesday, he said: "After assuming the Defense Ministry, I will ensure the burning of the body of Yahya Sinwar and the bodies of the perpetrators of the October 7 attacks. As Defense Minister, I will bring about a fundamental change in prevailing concepts."
Ben Gvir's request comes after he and Knesset member Tali Gottlieb submitted their demands last week for forming the upcoming government. Ben Gvir demanded the defense portfolio, while Gottlieb requested the justice portfolio.
Ben Gvir also presented the main points of the "security plan" he aims to implement if his position is accepted. He mentioned encouraging voluntary migration from Gaza and the West Bank, disarming the Palestinian Authority, and arresting senior officials who are alleged to incite terrorism.
