Khaberni - Apple has announced the global launch date for the new operating system iOS 27, during the "Surprise and Shine" conference, about 3 months after its first showcase of iOS 27 features at the Worldwide Developers Conference WWDC 2026.
Release Date of iOS 27
Apple has confirmed that the version will be available to users of compatible iPhone devices starting September 14, 2026. iOS 27 will be available to users through over-the-air (OTA) updates, and the system can be installed by going to "Settings," then "General," and selecting "Software Update."
The new version comes with a range of updates on the design level, artificial intelligence, and the iPhone user experience, alongside new tools for managing digital experiences for children.
New Design and Artificial Intelligence Features
iOS 27 introduces an enhanced "Liquid Glass" design, along with the "Handoff" feature that enables using the same numbers across different iPhones. The system also adds the next generation of "Apple Intelligence" technology, along with an AI-supported Siri assistant, designed by Apple to understand requests in a more natural way and maintain the context of conversations across various interactions.
The new version of Siri relies on a mix of Apple's "Foundation Models" and Google's "Gemini" models. Users can now run Siri as a standalone app, with access to previous conversation histories.
New Tools for Parents and Redesigned Apps
iOS 27 adds new tools that help parents manage digital experiences for their children, including settings for limiting screen time and schedules, as well as a new option to request permission before browsing new websites.
Apple has also redesigned the "Phone" application, to display important information derived from the "Mail" application, while the "Messages" and "Mail" apps offer new suggestions to users. The Safari browser also received updates, including grouping tabs according to topics, alongside alerting users when a site updates with new information.
