Khaberni - The intensity of the field tension in southern Lebanon escalated early this Saturday, following a wave of intensive artillery shelling and Israeli air raids, accompanied by widespread bombing operations that affected residential neighborhoods and forested areas.
The Israeli occupying army bombed several areas in southern Lebanon with phosphorous and artillery shells, concurrently with airstrikes and bombing operations carried out in the towns within the districts of Tyre and Bint Jbeil.
Continuous Escalation
Israeli artillery intensively shelled the outskirts of Doha Kafr Rumman area, the surroundings of Tellet el Debsha, and the Ali al-Tahir forest in the Nabatieh district, using phosphorous shells, according to the official Lebanese news agency.
It added that the Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes at dawn on the Ali al-Tahir heights on the northern outskirts of the town of Upper Nabatieh.
In the Tyre district, the towns of Mansouri and the surroundings of the town of Beayot al-Sayyad and the edges of Majdal Zoun—early this Saturday—underwent violent Israeli artillery shelling and widespread bombing operations.
The Lebanese agency reported that not a single house in the town of Beayot al-Sayyad was left undamaged due to the bombing and the ongoing Israeli shelling there.
The scene was not much different in the Bint Jbeil district, where the towns of Hdatha, Beit Yahoun, and Ayta al-Jabal witnessed similar bombing operations, in addition to sweeping operations with machine guns targeting the adjacent valleys.
This coincided with the continuous flying of Israeli drones over the villages and towns of the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon, and the agency did not immediately report information regarding human casualties due to the raids, shelling, and bombings.
Additionally, the Lebanese News Agency reported that the Israeli army carried out a large explosion in the vicinity of the town of Arnoun.
Open Fronts
The airstrikes and bombings are part of a series of continuous Israeli aggressions on areas in southern Lebanon, amid continued field tension in the region, and following a statement by former Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon who said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu keeps war fronts open and tries to open others, to prevent the formation of an investigative committee and hold him accountable.
Despite Tel Aviv and Beirut signing a US-sponsored framework agreement on June 26th last year, Israel continues its aggression on Lebanon, which began on March 2nd, resulting in more than 4,000 deaths and 12,000 injuries.
The agreement stipulates an incremental Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese territories in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army there, alongside the disarmament of armed groups, referring to Hezbollah.
