Behind the Scenes of the Israeli Strike in Syria and the Secret Meeting About Turkey

Khaberni - Information has been uncovered from recently gathered intelligence that led to the Israeli Chief of Staff persuading the political level to test Turkish intentions on Syrian territory at Abu al-Duhur Air Base.
Military analyst Yossi Yehoshua revealed new details about the unusual attack on "Abu al-Duhur" airbase in southern Idlib, Syria, on August 19.
This base is considered strategic, where Channel 12 Israel reported that Israel had informed the United States of Turkish attempts to place air defense systems and ground forces there, while Ankara denied any of its forces were at the targeted base.

Sources clarified that the intelligence information that led to the raid was gathered in recent weeks and reached Chief of Staff General Eyal Zamir, who presented it before the political level and convinced them to approve the operation.

On the other hand, the Israeli security level recommended easing tensions with Turkey and avoiding opening an additional front. The security establishment was displeased with statements by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, preferring the operation to have a low profile.

In this context, the Prime Minister held a secretive and sensitive meeting last night addressing the threat from Ankara. Turkey is not an enemy state today but a "grey" state that could confront at any moment. The Israeli army had warned weeks ago about reaching the red line concerning power buildup, and the Director-General of the Ministry of Security, Amir Bar-Am, confirmed that the army is not receiving funds for augmentation.

Preparing for a confrontation scenario with Turkey requires a different army, especially given Turkey's significant naval strength, air force, and intelligence issues. This necessitates attention to what happened to the United States when it ran out of missile stock against Iran, requiring Netanyahu's vigilance in this matter. The targeting of the base is part of Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty aimed at escalating the situation and striking attempts to reinforce Ankara's supported presence deep in Syria, sparking a wave of regional and international condemnations.
