Khaberni - Statements by American right-wing activist Laura Loomer, in which she called for the mass deportation of Muslims and the use of military force to raid mosques and expel Muslims from the United States, sparked a wide wave of criticism amid accusations of inciting hatred and violence against Muslims.
During her participation in a podcast with Charles Downs, Loomer said it was "much easier" to deport Muslims en masse, calling for "the use of military force to raid mosques" and to arrest and deport those she described as "Islamic invaders," asserting that "Islam has no place in America."
Loomer did not stop at advocating for forced deportation but also attacked her critics, stating that those who reject these views could "deport themselves," and described Muslims as representing a "crisis" facing the United States, warning of what she called the dominance of the "Islamic-Communist alliance" over the country.
These statements ignited a wave of sharp criticism from defenders of religious freedom and human rights, while critics viewed the call to use military force against mosques and Muslims as crossing from political discourse into incitement of violence and religious discrimination, conflicting with the principles of freedom of belief and equality guaranteed by the American Constitution.
In the same context, British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan criticized what he described as the double standards in dealing with anti-Muslim rhetoric.
On the "X" platform, he stated that if a similar call were made by a senior advisor or ally to former Presidents Joe Biden or Barack Obama to target Jewish synagogues, the statements would have become the top news story in the United States.
Hasan added that Loomer, despite being a close ally of President Donald Trump, has made similar statements regarding Muslims and mosques, which, according to him, did not receive the same media coverage, indicating what he considers to be "double standards" in handling Islamophobia.
In response, Loomer countered Hasan with an attack, accusing him of defending what she called "the Islamic invasion of America," and reiterated her call for the military to deport Muslims, before demanding that he leave the United States, affirming her adherence to her positions and calling on the Republican Party to listen to her.
The calls for holding Loomer accountable escalated as one activist urged the organization "CAIR" (CAIR) to take legal action against her.
Conversely, bloggers believed that the level of racist and incendiary rhetoric in her statements exceeded the usual boundaries of American political dialogue, especially with the shift from attacking Muslims to the explicit call to use military force against them and their places of worship.
These statements bring back to the forefront the controversy in the United States regarding the escalation of anti-Muslim rhetoric, and the limits of political discourse when it turns into calls targeting an entire religious group, at a time when the presence of extreme rhetoric within American right-wing circles raises renewed questions about its impact on religious freedoms and the social fabric in the country.
