Selena Gomez Faces Fraud Charges from Supportive Investors

Khaberni - A number of investors have filed a lawsuit against the American singer and actress Selena Gomez, accusing the star of the "Only Murders in the Building" series of committing fraud by failing to fulfill her obligations related to building and promoting her startup, Wondermind Global.

The plaintiffs had invested approximately $1.2 million in Wondermind Global, launched in 2021 with the goal of helping users enhance their "mental fitness," according to the lawsuit filed in a federal court in Delaware.

The investors stated that they were informed that Gomez, one of the biggest celebrities on social media with over 500 million followers, would actively participate in building the company as the marketing officer, according to Reuters.

However, they asserted that Gomez and other leaders in the company failed to fulfill their promises, including the creation of a mobile app.

Furthermore, the investors claimed in the lawsuit: "It was alleged that Gomez had signed a contract obligating her to perform specific tasks, which she then ignored."

They added, "There was no real project in progress, let alone a profitable one."

The plaintiffs also mentioned that the company failed to meet "even the simplest obligations, such as paying employees and suppliers on time."

The lawsuit clarified that the plaintiffs were unaware of the problems facing the company until a news report was published online in September 2025 revealing them.

The investors demanded the recovery of their investment funds, in addition to legal fees and expenses.

It should be noted that Gomez, who announced she was diagnosed with Lupus and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, is one of the prominent advocates for mental health issues. She also holds the position of Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
