Escalating Threats Against Israeli Knesset Member Avigdor Lieberman

Khaberni - Recently, threats have escalated against the head of the "Israel Our Home" party and Israeli Knesset member Avigdor Lieberman on social media, according to the Hebrew newspaper "Maariv".

According to "Maariv", posts on social media included wishes for his death and the death of his children, and threats of physical harm, as well as insults and threats targeting his wife. Among the published comments, it was written that Lieberman and his children deserve "death with suffering", while another wrote: "May Avigdor Lieberman's name be erased, you and your wife burn". One commenter described him as "a vile person", "cursed", and "worse than Hitler", wishing that "he suffers a lot" and burns in hell.

The "Israel Our Home" party stated that some of these posts came from accounts presenting themselves as supporters of the Likud party, but clarified that there has not yet been independent verification of the identity of these accounts’ owners, or evidence of a connection between them or an organization behind the threats.

This wave comes about a month after other threats against Lieberman, including phrases like: "Your wife will say Kaddish for you", and "he should receive.. a bullet to his head", "your life is in danger". Following this, a complaint was submitted to the Knesset officer, in addition to previous complaints to law enforcement authorities.

His party stated that dozens of threats have accumulated against Lieberman recently, all of which are documented and have been forwarded to law enforcement agencies for examination and necessary action.

According to the party, the escalation is not limited to an increase in the number of threats but also includes a rise in their severity, involving direct threats of murder and physical harm, and sometimes references to Lieberman's family members. No arrests have been made or a criminal investigation opened concerning this new wave, while the authorities must determine whether the posts constitute criminal offenses.

The threats came after controversial statements against Lieberman made by the Hasidic singer Mordechai Ben David at the beginning of the month during a podcast in Yiddish. Ben David said that Lieberman's circumcision was not done "properly", adding: "They should have cut off his head instead". The "Israel Our Home" party considered these statements as incitement to murder Lieberman.

This is not the first time Lieberman has faced threats. In September 2025, he filed a police complaint after receiving a threatening message. About two months later, he filed another complaint following a message that described him as "Nazi" and threatened that "the Jewish people will destroy him".
