Khaberni - Journalist Imad Hassanein revealed new details about Rami’s case, known in the media as "Junk Collector" or "Carpenter of Damietta", which stirred wide interaction on social media in recent days, confirming that some of the information circulated about the incident was incomplete.
During a phone call on a TV program on an Egyptian channel, Hassanein clarified that the case had received great sympathy from citizens since its outbreak, but developments in the investigations had revealed new data that deserve attention.
He said that Rami's criminal record includes past accusations in 15 different cases, noting that some of these cases ended with concessions or by closing the investigations or by completing the legal procedures, while the facts of the accusations remain part of his judicial record.
He added that among the past accusations were theft cases, and a case related to possession of drugs, in addition to a special case involving the theft of a gas cylinder, pointing out that these details were not known to many followers who shared the incident on social media.
He pointed out that investigative authorities had previously decided to detain Rami on the strength of one of the cases before it ended with a concession, confirming that this illustrates the difference between sympathizing with the human aspect of any incident and being fully aware of all its legal details.
In relation to the latest case, Hassanein explained that the competent investigative authorities had decided to release Rami pending further legal procedures, noting that this decision comes within the framework of the ongoing investigations and does not represent a final judgment on the incident.
He emphasized that discussing such cases requires relying on documented information and results of investigations, away from initial impressions or prejudice, especially given the rapid circulation of news on social media platforms, which can be accompanied by incomplete information or narratives that lack full details.
