Khaberni - The Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Al-Huneiti, welcomed on Wednesday in his office at the General Command, the US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security Affairs, Daniel Zimmerman, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations between the two countries and reviewed prospects for developing the strategic partnership in various areas of mutual interest, serving common interests and contributing to supporting security and stability at both the regional and international levels.
In this context, the Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff inaugurated the 45th session of the Jordanian-American Joint Military Committee (JMC 45), attended by the US Ambassador, the Defense Attaché, and several senior officers of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
Major General Al-Huneiti affirmed the solidity of the Jordanian-American relations, which are witnessing continuous development and noticeable progress in various fields, emphasizing the importance of uniting efforts and enhancing joint coordination to face current security challenges, and continuing Jordan’s pivotal and effective role in supporting the security and stability of the region.
On his part, the US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security Affairs praised the advanced level reached by the Jordanian Armed Forces, and their high efficiency and professionalism in performing various tasks and duties, reaffirming his country’s commitment to continuing to support military and defense cooperation relations with Jordan and expanding their scopes to serve the joint interests of both countries.
The US Ambassador, in turn, appreciated the level of partnership existing between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of building on the jointly achieved accomplishments over the past years, which enhances the Jordanian-American military cooperation and supports the common security interests.
The committee's proceedings addressed a number of issues and topics on its agenda, and ways to expand the partnership areas between the two sides, aiming to achieve common goals.
At the end of the visit, the US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security Affairs wrote a remark in the distinguished visitors’ book.
