Khaberni - An Israeli source informed on the Iranian nuclear program told the newspaper Haaretz, today, Wednesday, that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements about Iran already having atomic bombs are "pure lies."
This "denial", according to the Israeli newspaper, follows a statement by Netanyahu, yesterday, Tuesday, in an interview on Channel 14 where he said, "I decided to invade Iran twice to save us from the destruction that the atomic bombs, which they already had, would have caused, and you know who would be here today."
"Netanyahu Contradicts Himself"
The newspaper added that Netanyahu, in his talk about Iran possessing atomic bombs, contradicts what he said throughout the past year, including a statement at a press conference held on June 15, last year, where he said, "If we had not acted in time and with the force we did, Iran would already have atomic bombs."
Last week, Netanyahu noted that Iran was close to possessing nuclear bombs but for Israeli intervention, and he did not claim that they already had them. During a military ceremony on Thursday, he alleged, "If we had not intervened, Iran would today have nuclear bombs to destroy Israel."
The previous day, during a government conference, he said: "If we had not intervened in Operation Rising Lion, then in Operation Roaring Lion, Iran would now have nuclear bombs to destroy us."
IAEA Reports
Furthermore, public reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency, according to Haaretz, contain no indication that Iran possesses nuclear bombs. Earlier this month, the agency's director general, Rafael Grossi, informed the Board of Governors that the latest verified information available to the agency, on the eve of the military operation in June 2025, indicated that Iran possessed 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium, not a ready-made nuclear bomb.
In the same context, on Wednesday, the former Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army and leader of the opposition party "Yeshar", Gadi Eisenkot, said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is frightening the Israeli public by claiming that Iran possesses nuclear bombs.
He added in a conference held in central Israel: "Netanyahu made disgraceful statements. Iran did not possess any nuclear bombs at all. He is concocting claims to scare the Israeli public," as reported by the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, which mentioned that Eisenkot was referring to statements by Netanyahu on Tuesday evening, in an interview with Channel 14.
