Danny Glover Announces FirstTime Alzheimers Disease Diagnosis

Khaberni - American actor Danny Glover revealed his diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease, confirming that he has been living with the condition for years, supported by his family and determined to continue his life and work.

American star Danny Glover announced his diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease, speaking for the first time about his health developments, his message to patients, and his plans to collaborate with the American Alzheimer's Association.

Hollywood star Danny Glover announced his diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease during a television interview aired on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, explaining that the 79-year-old star of the famous action movie series "Lethal Weapon" has been living with this degenerative neurological disease since his diagnosis several years ago.

During an interview with the "Today" show on NBC, conducted by journalist Lester Holt, Glover spoke candidly about his journey with the disease, explaining that he received his official diagnosis after receiving the honorary Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Oscars.
He noted that he began to notice a gradual slowdown in movement, speech, and the ability to recall memories, adding: "I can live with it one way or another, but I am fully confident that as the disease progresses, things will become different and change."

The television interview coincided with Danny Glover appearing on the cover of "People" magazine, where his daughter Mandisa Glover disclosed details about her father's decision to announce his diagnosis.
She explained that going public about the disease was meant to give him a chance to tell his story himself before his memory was further impacted, noting that family members first noticed him forgetting some details of the stories he used to tell.
She affirmed that the family stands by him and supports him in facing the disease.

In his discussion with the magazine, he said: "I still have my daughter and my friends, and I just want to say that life goes on, I never feel that this is the end of my life, as there is still much work to be done."
He also announced his intention, in cooperation with his family, to work with the American Alzheimer's Association to spread awareness about the disease, and to educate the community on how to deal with affected individuals and alleviate the burdens they face.
