Khaberni - The number of victims of the horrific accident that occurred today, Tuesday, in Asyut Governorate, Egypt, has risen to 9 children of daily workers, while 5 others were injured due to the overturning of a three-wheeled motorcycle "tricycle" into one of the canals, while they were returning from work in agricultural fields.
A profound sadness overshadowed the residents of the "Abu Tij" center, where the tragic incident occurred, while the competent authorities began investigations to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.
Rescue forces, in coordination with the locals, participated in the search and recovery of victims, with field monitoring from the executive and security leaders of the governorate, and the "tricycle" involved in the accident was confiscated under the jurisdiction of the Public Prosecution.
Initial investigations revealed no criminal suspicion, and that the accident occurred due to a steering wheel imbalance in the hands of the tricycle driver, caused by excessive speed, leading to its fall into the canal.
Thousands of citizens and women gathered in front of the hospital in preparation to receive the bodies, amidst screams and crying as they stood opposite the morgue, with a heavy security presence.
Informed sources within the Asyut Health Directorate reported the stabilization of the injured, without the need to transfer them to other hospitals for further treatment.
The governor also directed to complete the installation of "concrete barriers" and safety measures on the sides of the canal, coordinating with the Central Administration of Water Resources and Irrigation in this regard, according to the approved technical and engineering specifications, contributing to enhancing safety factors and reducing the risks of such accidents recurring.
