The Custodian of Endowments Religious Discourse is the First Line of Defense against Drug Prevention

Khaberni - The Secretary General of the Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Sites, Dr. Ismail Al-Khatib, affirmed that religious discourse represents one of the most important pillars of preventing the scourge of drugs, through reinforcing Islamic values, enhancing religious commitment, and building societal awareness that protects youth from addiction.

This came during his participation in specialized work sessions held on the sidelines of the Public Security Directorate’s celebration today, Monday, marking the International Day against Drug Abuse, under the slogan "With awareness... we break the cycle."

Al-Khatib said that Islamic law has made the preservation of mind and soul one of its greatest objectives, and therefore it has forbidden everything that corrupts them, explaining that drugs are not just a health or security problem, but a danger that threatens the family and society and undermines the value and moral system.

He added that the responsibility to combat drugs is a national and community shared responsibility, not limited to security agencies, but requires the collaboration of religious, educational, media institutions, and families, contributing to building a safe environment that protects youth from this peril.

He indicated that the Ministry of Endowments implements ongoing awareness programs through mosques, including unified sermons, preaching lessons, and advisory meetings, in addition to training imams and male and female preachers in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Department as part of the initiative "With our awareness, we protect generations," aiming to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and the means of prevention.

He explained that the ministry is committed to including in its preaching plans topics that enhance moral values, strengthen family ties, and encourage youth to choose good companions and invest their time in what benefits them, considering that prevention starts from the family, mosque, school, and extends to the entire community.
