Iraqi Judiciary Seizure of 11 Million Dollars and 4 Billion Dinars in the Case of the Deputy Minister of Oil

Khaberni - The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq announced on Monday that the investigations with the detained suspect, the Deputy Minister of Oil for Distribution Affairs, Ali Maarej Suwaidj Al-Bahadli, resulted in the seizure of financial amounts totaling 11 million dollars and 4 billion Iraqi dinars, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The judiciary media stated in a statement that "the investigating judge of the Central Criminal Corruption Court clarified that the preliminary investigations with the detained suspect, Ali Maarej Suwaidj Al-Bahadli, Deputy Minister for Distribution, resulted in the seizure of financial amounts totaling 11 million dollars and 4 billion Iraqi dinars, in addition to a number of real estates."

The competent judge added that "the investigations are still ongoing."

The Iraqi Prime Minister, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, affirmed the government's determination to continue fighting corruption to recover public money.

Al-Zaidi, in statements published Monday after a session of the Iraqi government, said “What happened from a surge against corruption is just the first phase, and the government will continue to fight corruption to recover public funds, and it is tasked with protecting the interests of the Iraqi people, and there will be no leniency in this responsibility,” according to a statement from the Iraqi government.
