Khaberni - The Economic Misdemeanor Appeal Court has upheld the decision to imprison the media figure Samah El-Said for a month with labor, and fined her EGP 20,000, in addition to obliging her to pay a temporary civil compensation of EGP 50,000, in a case involving her accusation of insulting and defaming the actress Hala Sedki.
The case stems from a complaint filed by attorney Sherif Hafez, representing the actress Hala Sedki, with the Public Prosecutor, in which he accused both Samah El-Said and Shalimar Sharbatly of insulting and defaming their client during a media appearance on one of the podcast programs on social media.
According to the investigations, the Public Prosecution charged the defendants with public defamation and insult through social networks, after publishing phrases that were considered offensive and affecting honor and reputation.
