Egypt Acquittal of Nada Al Kamels Exhusband in a 445 Million Pounds Cheque Case

Khaberni - The New Cairo Appeals Court acquitted Ahmed Khaled, Nada Al Kamel's ex-husband, of the accusation of issuing a bank cheque, following the review of the appeal against the prior judgment.

The acquittal of Ahmed Khaled, Nada Al Kamel's ex-husband, came in the case involving a bank cheque valued at four million and four hundred and fifty thousand pounds, after the appeal submitted against the initial judgment was accepted.

The details of the case date back to a previous ruling issued by the New Cairo Misdemeanor Court, which sentenced the accused to three years in prison, on the background of his accusation of issuing a bank cheque drawn on one of the banks, New Cairo branch, without sufficient funds.

The case files indicate that the incident dates back to November 12, 2024, when the accused issued a cheque to Ms. Nadia R., drawn on the National Bank of Egypt, New Cairo branch, valued at 4.450.000 pounds, which she later endorsed as a transfer of ownership to Abdel Aziz Mukhtar Mohamed El Metbouli, residing in Damietta Governorate.

Upon presenting the cheque to the bank, it was reported that there were insufficient funds to cover its value, which led the misdemeanor complainant to consider the incident a crime of issuing a cheque without balance, according to Article 534 of the Commercial Code and Article 336 of the Penal Code.

The report also noted that the incident resulted in material and moral damages, with a provisional civil compensation set at 51 pounds, in addition to involving the prosecutor of New Cairo, in his capacity, to initiate the public lawsuit against the accused.
