Khaberni - Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, an ally of Iran-backed Hezbollah, said Monday that the framework agreement signed by his country with Israel under U.S. sponsorship "will not proceed and be implemented", considering it does not preserve his country's rights.
Berri stated in a release by the Amal Movement, which he leads, "This agreement will not proceed and be implemented in its current form", adding that it is an agreement of "impositions, not one that preserves Lebanon’s rights".
The agreement specifically mandates the disarmament of Hezbollah and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories they had penetrated in southern Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese army starting from two "pilot regions".
