Israel Resorts to a New Name to Market Gaza Displacement Plan

Khaberni  - After failing in its attempts to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip through what is called "voluntary migration," the Israeli occupation has resorted to replacing the plan with a new name and term in a step taken days after reviving the issue in a high-level security meeting.

Channel 13 Hebrew reported that the occupation has instructed Israeli security officials and the Mossad to refrain from using the term "voluntary migration" when referring to the plan to displace the residents of the Gaza Strip.

It explained that the decision came after the term faced sharp international criticism, as it was perceived by the international community as promoting a forced displacement process, which prevented many countries from agreeing to accommodate Gaza's citizens.

It was noted that henceforth the plan will be referred to in all discussions and official summonses as the "Freedom of Movement Plan," indicating that sources familiar with the relations with the concerned countries were optimistic about this change.

The sources considered that changing the terminology is expected to lead to a radical shift in the stance of those countries towards the plan, in light of Israel's efforts to revive it.

In the meantime, an Israeli official told the channel that Israel is interested in leading a process that results in as many Gaza residents as possible leaving the Strip, based on the belief that this step will support any future plan being formulated.

Channel 13 recognized that changing the name of the plan, which is highly anticipated in the political and security system, represents an overt attempt by Israel to address the difficulties on the international stage and encourage cooperation with other countries.

Urgent Meeting

Last Tuesday, Haaretz newspaper reported that the new President of the Israeli National Security Council, Shmuel Ben Ezra, held an urgent meeting with representatives of the security establishment to discuss the topic of "promoting voluntary migration" of Palestinians from Gaza.

At the meeting, Mossad representatives acknowledged the difficulties in implementing "voluntary displacement," confirming that no country had been found willing to accept the residents of the Strip.

The newspaper clarified that the Israeli security apparatus had not discussed the issue of "voluntary migration" for months, but the security establishment was surprised by the rapid summons by Ben Ezra, considering that the plan had been proposed several times in the past, but had not been advanced or implemented.

About 2.4 million Palestinians live in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has imposed a siege since 2007, which has intensified in recent years with its aggression on the Strip, resulting in more than 73,000 martyrs and 173,000 injured since October 2023, in addition to massive destruction that affected 90% of civilian infrastructure.

Despite the ongoing genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation and the continued ceasefire agreement since October 10, 2025, Gazans continue to affirm their attachment to their land and reject any displacement projects, whether forced or voluntary.
