Khaberni - The competent prosecution in Egypt decided to refer 3 accused to criminal trial in front of the Economic Court, after they were charged with insulting and defaming actress Wafaa Amer.
The referral decision came after the completion of investigations in case number 363 of the year 2025, misdemeanor economic cases in Omrania, which included accusations related to insults and defamation using social media.
The investigations revealed that the prosecution charged the accused with several accusations, including committing the crimes of insult and defamation online, misuse of communications means, in addition to creating and using an electronic account for the purpose of committing these crimes.
The case files clarified that the accused posted messages, comments, and video clips via the application «TikTok» which contained phrases and allegations that the investigative authorities considered offensive to the actress Wafaa Amer, affecting her honor and reputation, potentially harming her reputation and exposing her to contempt in society.
The referral order also included the accusation of the accused deliberately harassing actress Wafaa Amer through the misuse of communications means, and creating an account on the platform «TikTok» designated for publishing the content in question, in what the prosecution described as deliberate behavior to offend the victim.
The prosecution confirmed that the actions attributed to the accused constitute crimes punishable by the penal code, alongside violations stipulated in the communications regulation law and the law combating information technology crimes, thus deciding to refer them to the Economic Court to adjudicate the accusations attributed to them, according to legal procedures.
