Khaberni - High-level Iraqi sources confirmed that Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's campaign to pursue those accused of corruption files is ongoing and extensive.
The sources mentioned that operations to pursue the corrupt are continuing in Baghdad and other provinces as well.
They added that "the operations resulted in the arrest of 47 accused, including deputies and officials on corruption charges".
The Iraqi news agency published the names of some deputies who were arrested, including: Azm Coalition head and member of the House of Representatives Muthanna Al-Samarrai on corruption charges and House of Representatives members Ziad Al-Janabi, Bahaa Al-Nouri on corruption charges, and Mohammad Al-Karbouli, Alia Nassif, Mohammad Jamil Al-Miyahi, Hassan Al-Khafaji, Abdul Rahman Al-Luwaizi, Mudhar Al-Karawi, Hind Al-Abbasi, Mohammad Furman Al-Jubouri, Bushra Al-Qaisi, Mohammad Al-Sayhood, and the Deputy Minister of Oil for Distribution Affairs Ali Ma'araj and Ibrahim Al-Sumaidaie.
The Iraqi Federal Integrity Commission stated in a statement that it "initiated its firm procedures regarding the enforcement of the judicial arrest warrants issued against a number of the accused of public funds embezzlement".
It added that "this achievement was the result of the joint and integrative efforts between the three authorities, judicial, executive, and legislative, along with the Commission’s efforts, which directly led to implementing those orders as a yield of continuous and diligent follow-up, auditing, and monitoring by the aforementioned entities."
The Commission emphasized that "all its undertaken procedures occur with precision under the provisions of the law and under its umbrella," noting that it "derives its strength and resolve from unconditional popular support, the rule of law, and the endless support and ongoing endorsement from the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Prime Minister, and the Head of the House of Representatives."
The Commission "affirmed its complete diligence and steadfast commitment to informing the public about the details of its work and procedures accurately and transparently, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force."
