Khaberni - The prolonged legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt concerning the French winery "Chateau Miraval" saw a new development after Pitt achieved a courtroom victory in the latest dispute chapters.
American media and art websites revealed that the Supreme Court in the state of California agreed, in a decision issued on June 17th, to a request submitted by Brad Pitt's legal team, which requires a number of officials from the company that acquired "Chateau Miraval" to testify in the legal dispute between the former couple regarding the ownership of the factory.
In June 2025, Brad Pitt filed a request to interrogate Alexey Olenik, one of the company's officials, who however refused to surrender the required documents or appear to testify, citing his residence in Switzerland.
However, the court rejected this claim, and agreed to hold the hearing sessions in London, with the testimonies to be completed before September 30th of the upcoming year.
The documents revealed that the court's decision not only required him to testify but also included individuals who possess the most knowledge about the details of the deal, considering them among the most informed about its structure and procedures.
In response to the decision, Angelina Jolie's lawyer said that his client is looking forward to the upcoming trial, expressing confidence in her ability to resolve the case in her favor, allowing the family to finally focus on recovering and moving forward.
Brad Pitt filed a legal lawsuit against Angelina Jolie in 2023, requesting damages based on her selling her share in "Chateau Miraval" to a consortium he claimed was linked to Russia, arguing that it damaged the reputation of the project he helped establish. His legal team also pointed out that the company faced boycott calls due to its connection with Russia.
In 2025, Paul Murphy, Angelina Jolie's lawyer confirmed that his client seeks to end the legal dispute with Brad Pitt.
Murphy explained that during the negotiations to buy Jolie’s share of the factory, Pitt attempted to impose an extended non-disclosure agreement, which he said was intended to cover-up his "personal misconduct and abuses," leading Jolie to refuse to sell her share to him.
He added that the ongoing judicial proceedings are necessary, confirming that they "are not surprised by Mr. Pitt's refusal to produce documents that prove these facts."
Murphy also mentioned that Jolie has asked Pitt to resolve the dispute and turn a new page that allows the family to recover, but he confirmed that the continuation of the legal case will force her to continue legal proceedings to obtain the evidence she believes refutes his claims.
Murphy had stated in May of the same year that Jolie's team agreed to deliver the mutual non-disclosure agreement, but he stressed that it "cannot be compared to the agreement demanded by Pitt."
The celebrities Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were one of the most famous Hollywood couples, after they officially married in August 2014, before Jolie announced their separation and filed for divorce in September 2016.
Although the divorce was legally finalized in December 2024, the disputes between the two parties continue before the courts, with the dispute over the ownership of the French factory "Chateau Miraval" being a primary issue.
