Khaberni - The animated series "The Simpsons" has again sparked debate by predicting the events and result of the Egypt-Iran match in the 2026 World Cup.
The alleged resemblance between what was shown in the circulated images and what happened on the field has sparked a wide range of comments, especially since many of the key events of the match were identical - according to those circulating them - to the drawings spread on the internet, leading some to wonder: Did "Simpson" actually predict the match scenario?
According to the narrative spread across social media platforms, the image attributed to the series included a number of details that users said were realized during the match, as the Egypt team was seen scoring the first goal of the game, which actually happened when the Pharaohs opened the scoring before the Iranian team later equalized.

The images also indicated that Egyptian team players received yellow cards, which was repeated during the match with numerous interventions and clashes.
It did not stop there, as internet users circulated that the image also included an injury to one of the Egyptian team players, which many linked to the injury of the defender Mohamed Abdelmonem during the match, which raised concerns among the fans and the technical staff before the player left the field affected by his injury.
Followers also pointed out that what attracted their attention was the appearance of a canceled goal for the Iranian team in the circulated images, which some considered matching what the final minutes of the match witnessed, when the Iranian team scored a goal before the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervened deciding to cancel it for an offside, keeping the positive draw of one goal each as the final result of the confrontation.
This was not the first time the name "Simpson" was associated with the 2026 World Cup, as claims had spread in the past few days alleging that the series predicted Mexico and Portugal reaching the tournament's final.
However, independent verification reports have confirmed that the original scene dates back to an old episode aired in 1997, which did not include any reference to the 2026 World Cup or the final match, but only showed a fictional match between the teams within the episodes of the series, which was later reinterpreted on social media.
The "Simpson predictions" have become a widespread digital phenomenon in recent years, with many users reposting old snapshots or creating images using editing software and artificial intelligence, linking them to current events in politics, sports, or technology, making it essential to verify the source of any image or clip before treating it as fact.

Egypt's team ended their match against Iran in a 1-1 draw in a thrilling encounter until the last seconds, after the Pharaohs took the lead first, before the Iranian team equalized, then scored another goal which was canceled after a VAR review for offside.
The match also witnessed several players receiving warnings, in addition to the injury of Mohamed Abdel Monem, resulting in a final result that gave the Egyptian team a ticket to the Round of 32, while the Iranian team awaited the results of other groups to decide its fate in the tournament.
