Khaberni - The Syrian Minister of Culture, Mohammad Yasin Al-Saleh, announced the prohibition of any artist who had previously sung or glorified Bashar Al-Assad's regime from appearing in theaters and cultural institutions unless they apologize to the Syrian people for their previous stances.
The Minister of Culture emphasized that the new phase imposes different ethical and cultural standards, stressing that those who chose to stand by the former regime cannot return to the stage without revisiting their stance and apologizing to the Syrians.
The statements came after the cancellation of the concert of the artist Shadi Jameel, which was scheduled to take place at the Damascus Opera House, in a move that reignited the debate about the participation of artists linked to supporting the former regime, amid widespread division in the streets and among social media users.
