Khaberni - The attendance at the stadiums of the 2026 FIFA World Cup football tournament set a record, after the number of fans reached 3.6 million people during the group stage, following the matches between Germany and Ecuador, and Ivory Coast versus Curaçao.
This was announced by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) in a statement on Friday, regarding the audience attendance in the tournament, which is being jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and is held for the first time with the participation of 48 teams.
The federation announced that this World Cup has broken the previous record set during the 1994 World Cup hosted by the United States, which was attended by 3 million, 587 thousand, and 538 fans.
The federation mentioned that the attendance at the 2026 World Cup reached 3 million, 605 thousand, and 357 fans.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino praised the full stadiums with fans, saying: "It is the most successful tournament in history. The stadiums are full, the cities are bustling, and the atmosphere is fantastic."
The tournament started on June 11 and will conclude on July 19 with the final match being held.
