Khaberni - The decision to bring the artist Al-Shami to Libya to participate in the opening of “Qargi Investment Mall” in the capital, Tripoli, sparked a crisis within the Islamic Da'wah Association.
The crisis led to the resignation of Saleh Aborquia, the director of legal affairs at the association, who officially resigned in protest of the move.
In the text of his resignation, Aborquia explained that the artist's participation in the opening ceremony does not align with the nature of the association, its missionary message, and values, considering that hosting such an event in a facility owned by Islamic endowment properties represents a violation of the sanctity of the location and a deviation from the objectives for which the association was established.
The resignation coincided with the arrival of the artist Al-Shami to Libya, ready to participate in the opening ceremony of “Qargi Mall”, an investment project under the Islamic Da'wah Association and one of its most significant economic investments.
The event triggered a broad wave of controversy and rejection on social media, where a number of citizens and activists criticized hosting an artist to perform at a ceremony inside a facility owned by an association with a missionary character, considering that the move contradicts the identity of the institution and its message.
The opening of the mall, which was expected to be an economic and investment occasion, turned into a public opinion issue that sparked a wide discussion regarding the nature of activities that can be hosted by institutions affiliated with the Islamic endowment and the limits of balancing between investment and missionary message.
