13 Palestinian prisoners transferred to a hospital in Gaza after their release by the occupation

Khaberni  - 13 Palestinian prisoners were transferred to the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital in the middle of the Gaza Strip after being released by the Israeli authorities today, Thursday, through the Kerem Shalom Crossing, as announced by the International Red Cross Committee.

The committee took charge of transporting the released prisoners to the hospital, amid ongoing reports of torture of Palestinians in Israeli prisons.

The committee stated that it facilitated the transfer of 13 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel from the Kerem Shalom Crossing, and facilitated their contact and reunification with their families, without revealing the health condition or identities of the prisoners.

The committee added that since 2023, it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2500 prisoners released in the same way, but confirmed its inability to access prisoners detained in Israeli detention centers since October 2023, renewing its call to be informed about the fate of all prisoners, their whereabouts, and to be allowed to visit them.

Palestinian families await information about their relatives

The committee emphasized that, according to international humanitarian law, prisoners must be treated humanely, provided with acceptable detention conditions, and allowed to communicate with their families.

The committee pointed out that many Palestinian families are still waiting for any information about their detained relatives, expressing concerns for their health and safety, and confirming the continuation of its dialogue with the Israeli authorities to resume its visits to all Palestinian detainees.

From time to time, Israel releases prisoners from among the thousands it has arrested from Gaza, during two years of genocide waged on the besieged enclave, in prisons and detention centers that lack the minimum humanitarian standards, where they suffer torture, starvation, and medical neglect, according to documented testimonies.

With American support, Israel launched on October 8, 2023, a genocide against Gaza, which resulted in the death of more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 173,000 others, in addition to widespread destruction affecting 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the sector, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.

Concurrently with the war, the Israeli army and settlers escalated their attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, resulting in the martyrdom of 1173 Palestinians and injuring 12,666 others, alongside the arrest of about 23,000, according to the latest official Palestinian data.
