Khaberni - Egyptian security agencies revealed on Thursday the circumstances of a video clip that was circulated, showing a number of people damaging and breaking seats in the entertainment area in the new administrative capital, after watching the national team's match against New Zealand.
The incident began after a video spread showing a group of individuals destroying several seats designated for the audience within the entertainment area, following the end of the match, amid a chaotic situation that accompanied the celebrations.
Accused apprehended within hours
Upon examining the video, the security agencies were able to identify the culprits and apprehend them, where it was found that they were 10 individuals residing in the provinces of Cairo, Monufia, and Gharbia.
Upon confronting them, the accused admitted to committing the incident, confirming that what happened occurred during the celebration of the national team's victory, without intent of deliberate sabotage, according to their statements.
Necessary legal measures were taken against the accused, and they were detained, pending their presentation to the public prosecution, which began investigating the intentional damage to public property to fully understand the circumstances of the incident.
This incident occurs amidst a high turnout at the Egyptian Fan Zone (EFZ), which represents one of the most prominent areas for watching matches and sports events in Egypt, hosting thousands of fans to watch the games on large display screens in an entertainment atmosphere.
The area provides multiple services including high-quality display screens, seating areas, restaurants, and cafes, as well as entertainment activities and accompanying events, with full security and organization to ensure the safety of the public.
