Khaberni - Mazen Al-Qadi, President of the House of Representatives, met with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, as part of his agenda in participating in the twentieth conference of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
Al-Qadi and Shahbazov affirmed the strength of the relationship between the two countries, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, which encourages further cooperation in all fields and forms a basis for the development of cooperation in the energy sector.
Al-Qadi stated that Jordan possesses an advanced legislative and investment environment in the energy sector, noting that recent years have seen continuous development of the legislation regulating investment, energy, and renewable energy.
During the meeting, which was attended by the ambassadors of both countries, they discussed the initial framework of the memorandum of understanding concerning energy production, export, and supply, and assessed the cooperation opportunities in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors.
The Azerbaijani minister emphasized the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation between the relevant ministries in Azerbaijan and Jordan, and the formation of a working team to identify future cooperation areas.
The meeting was attended by the Jordanian Ambassador in Azerbaijan Omar Al-Nahar, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Shahin Shakar Abdullayev, the head of the Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, MP Hussein Kreishan, and MPs Atallah Al-Huneiti, Muhammad Bani Melhem, and Senator Omar Ayasra.
