New JordanianPalestinian Decisions at the Allenby Crossing Details

Khaberni -   Palestinian Interior Minister Major General Ziad Hab Al-Reeh and Jordanian Mazen Al-Faraya agreed today, Thursday, to form a joint Palestinian-Jordanian committee including directors of crossings and specialized teams in both countries, to deal with daily needs and observations, including extending the operating hours at Allenby Crossing, and coordinating these matters, in addition to dealing with human cases that require urgent travel or return.

The ministers also agreed, during the meeting held at Allenby Crossing today, Thursday, which is the second this week, attended by the specialized teams at the crossings and borders, to work on developing the infrastructure on both sides of the crossing, Palestinian and Jordanian, through mechanisms intended to make travel procedures to and from the State of Palestine more efficient and smooth.

During the meeting, they also discussed the observations and obstacles faced by travelers in light of the reduced working hours at the crossing.

In this context, Minister Al-Faraya announced a package of development projects, which include improving the halls and services provided to travelers.

The ministers confirmed the continuation of bilateral efforts and communication with international partners to increase working hours, aiming to operate Allenby Crossing around the clock, just like other ports and airports worldwide.

A series of meetings were held last week in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and at Allenby Crossing, bringing together the ministers with the presence of the crossing directors and the specialized teams, to discuss the observations, impediments, and appeals made by travelers in light of the crisis experienced at the crossing due to reduced working hours.

Recently, Allenby Crossing experienced a severe crisis, as the reduction in working hours allowed only 3-4 thousand travelers to pass daily, while thousands of others wait for permission to travel through the crossing.

The relevant authorities continue to urge travelers to follow the instructions and guidelines issued by them, and to arrange their travel according to the pre-booking system "the platform" launched by the Jordanian side, aimed at organizing the number of travelers and facilitating the movement.
