Khaberni - Jerash Governor Malik Khrisat stated on Thursday that two sites, the Southern Amphitheatre and the Oval Plaza, have been dedicated within the archaeological city to screen the upcoming Sunday match between Jordan and Argentina, as per the directives of the Prime Minister.
Khrisat added, during a meeting held in the governorate building in the presence of the Security Council, the Executive Council, and mayors, that these sites have been equipped with display screens, and buses will be allocated to transport citizens to the match screening site.
He pointed out that selecting the archaeological city as the venue aims to promote tourism at the site and provide an opportunity for visitors to explore its historic and archaeological landmarks.
Khrisat clarified that a comprehensive security plan was put in place in partnership with the Jerash Police Directorate to maintain traffic fluidity and to facilitate the entry and exit of citizens from the archaeological site.
He indicated that the attendance for the Jordan vs. Algeria match previously displayed in the archaeological city reached about 15,000 people supporting the national team, noting that the citizens continue to support the team till the end.
He explained that the large public turnout witnessed at the screening sites of the national team’s match against Algeria in the archaeological site confirms the citizens’ rallying around the team, indicating that the scene reflected the spirit of belonging and national unity behind the Nashama.
He mentioned that the atmosphere among the attendees portrayed a bright image of Jerash governorate and its people, where sports cheering blended with the spirit of love and solidarity, in a national tableau expressing the pride of Jordanians in their team and their keenness to support them in various arenas.
Meanwhile, Head of the Jerash Greater Municipality Committee, Mohammad Bani Yaseen, indicated that the municipality had prepared a comprehensive plan that included media and logistical aspects for the match between Jordan and Argentina and for preparing the archaeological site.
